Logs and services
Daily. A stopped service is spotted that morning, not a week later when a user complains.
Servers rarely need a hero who saves the day at three in the morning. What they need is security patches on schedule, disks that never fill up and someone reading the logs before anything breaks. That quiet, routine work is what we do, entirely over remote access.
Anything from a sluggish laptop that needs a service to the ongoing running of your domain, identities and virtual estate.
We trim start-up programs, remove malware and track down the single bottleneck dragging the machine down. Often far cheaper than a replacement.
Roles and services, patching, resource use and logs on Windows and Linux, whether the box sits in your comms room, a data centre or Azure.
A single sign-in for everything, MFA, group policies and tidy permissions. When an employee leaves, their access ends that same day.
Hyper-V, VMware or Proxmox: several servers sharing one set of hardware, a snapshot before every change and live migration between hosts.
Outages are prevented by the dull routines. That is why they live in a fixed calendar and never slip when things get busy.
Daily. A stopped service is spotted that morning, not a week later when a user complains.
Daily. So the database behind your business system never halts because a volume ran out of room.
Monthly. Removes the biggest risk there is: a backup that fails you on the one day it matters.
Monthly. Closes holes that are publicly documented and therefore well known to attackers too.
Quarterly. Strips access from former staff and from old service accounts nobody can explain.
We document your environment before we accept responsibility for it. A network drawing, a service list, where data lives and what depends on what all go into one document that belongs to you. Without it, knowledge sits in one person's head and walks out with them.
That is the norm rather than the exception. We begin with discovery: locating every server and service, establishing who owns what and drawing it all up. Depending on size it takes between a week and a month, after which we work from the documentation instead of guessing.
We snapshot before every update, and if you have a test environment we try it there first. The work itself happens in an agreed maintenance window, usually in the evening or at the weekend. Should anything misbehave, the previous state is back before staff arrive.
Both. A mixed estate where users and policies are managed in Active Directory and Entra ID while web servers and databases run on Ubuntu or Debian is perfectly ordinary among our clients.
We do not come out, but we catch the fault, tell your supplier exactly which part to ship and coach whoever does the swap. If the server lives in a data centre, their technicians carry it out following our instructions.
With many internal systems that change constantly, a colleague who understands the business from the inside is valuable. We then cover servers, monitoring, specialist knowledge and on-call duty, leaving your own person free to focus on the applications.
Let us know how many servers you run, which systems sit on them and who looks after them today. We will review it and point out the first things worth fixing.
